Thank you Debbie.. I am relieved to get this reassurance. It has taken some time to understand the CBT4T process .I have found it quite hard to relax so keep going over the first and second stages.
Thanks for your input Susan. It's hard to learn to relax when the nervous system has been in dysregulation (the opposite of being "relaxed"), and the main purpose of Element 1 is to begin regulating the nervous system. This is in preparation for Element 2.
The repeat of the TFI and ASQ at the end of Stage 4a gives a comparison between the two measures (at Stages 1 and 4a) and is a good quantitative indicator of readiness to continue in to Element 2. Some people's nervous systems have re-regulated enough after 4-6 weeks, where others take a bit longer. How long it takes largely depends on where it was at Stage 1.
It's worth bearing in mind that dysregulation of the nervous system didn't just start at Stage 1 when you started CBT4T - it was there before, sometimes long before. This relates to a couple of other posts I've made in this Substack, particularly "How you got here" (13th May) and "Your Autonomic Nervous System" (22nd May).

So good to have this input. Just reminding me to go at my own pace
